Israeli Security Expert: U.S. Must Profile Passengers
 
As controversy swirls over the use of full-body scanners at U.S. airports, the former security director for Israel’s national airline says airline security in America is an “illusion” and the U.S. should profile passengers to ensure safety.Isaac Yeffet was security chief for El Al Israel Airlines, which requires every passenger to be interviewed by a well-trained agent before check-in. Agents then perform electronic body scans or searches only on those who arouse suspicions during the interview.

El Al is considered the most secure airline in the world, and has experienced only one hijacking in its history.

 Yeffet told CNSNews that American airlines should use “exactly the same system” as El Al.“Yes, profiling,” he said. “Every passenger has to be interviewed by security. We have to be polite. We know how to ask questions.” The U.S. Transportation Safety Administration “wants to tell me we now have security in this country — this is an illusion,” Yeffet said. "Technology in general can never replace a qualified and well-trained human being.”

The El Al approach is in sharp contrast to procedures in America, which call for body scanning every passenger, and patting them down if they opt out of the scan or if something suspicious shows up on the images.

Yeffet said it is unnecessary to search “innocent people,” and security should instead focus on determining if a passenger is suspicious by intensively interviewing them. “We at El Al have used the hand/body search for so many years, but we did it only to suspicious passengers that were interviewed by us.”

Opponents of adopting El Al’s security approach in the United States say it would violate passengers’ civil rights by allowing some to be more intensely scrutinized than others, CNSNews reported.But Yeffet says the pre-flight interviews have enabled El Al to identify “the right people that are trying to blow up an aircraft or commit suicide.”        -WND

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) this week called for a global tax on financial transactions, claiming that the revenue raised could be used for -- drum roll please -- more stimulus spending. H.R. 4191, which is currently before the House, calls for a quarter percent tax on the sale and purchase of all financial instruments, including stocks, bonds, options, futures, you name it. The idea, according to Pelosi, is to get Wall Street to pitch in with the government to help grow the economy -- er, government.

A sentiment like that should clearly define just how dangerous Pelosi is when it comes to economics. If she truly believes that Wall Street has never helped grow the economy, then she doesn't deserve the role of town dogcatcher, let alone that of Speaker. On the contrary, it has been the government's actions that have hindered the recovery and growth of our economy.

Since Pelosi seems aware that this tax will drive investment out of the United States, she proposes that all the major international players -- including Asia, the EU and the UK -- impose a similar tax just so that no one can escape from their righteous duty to pay more taxes (are you shittin' me?).

Pelosi made no indication of what would become of the tax once the stimulus spending was no longer needed. In her mind, there will always be a need for government involvement in the economy, so there will always be a need for more income redistribution.

Couple of months ago our Treasury Sec. (Goldman-Sachs butt-boy Geithner) went to Beijing & told a college seminar that their money was safe in the US...he was laughed - literally - off the stage. No one wants the Dollar any longer. China's using the dollars it has to buy up Africa, lots of Canada & anything that's not nailed down here in the US - all w/ our own money.

-India just bought 200 metric tons - yes, tons - of gold w/ the dollars (our dollars - don't lose sight of that one simple fact) it has accumulated a few days ago. It bought it at the ridiculous price of $1045 / troy! Insane! ...but it doesn't matter. They bought it w/ our own dollars which, in a very short time, will be worth nothing on the international market! It - India - no longer wants our "paper" & has changed it into real property. The whole world is laughing at us & we, here, in the US are in denial.

-Now, if Saudi Arabia turns its back on us & switches from the Petro-Dollar to the Petro-Euro, we are screwed to the wall. It'll cost $10 for gas, $5 for a loaf of bread - if we're lucky! ...I just re-read that & it is way too conservative.

-Here I go again: Prediction Time - somewhere within the next 5 years ( & probably much sooner, unless something magical happens & it might) there will be civil unrest the likes of which will make it seem like April 12, 1861 again. A Modest Proposal...

Had an early morning talk w/ a friend & he had an interesting idea. All the money that all the "fat-cats" have & are "investing for us" - & them - is OUR money. How about simply taking all the money out of our IRA's, 401's, Mutual Funds, any & all of the retirement money & simply take it? Simply take physical possession. It is ours, correct? Despite plaudits by Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood as "the one stimulus program that seems to be working better than just about any other program," Cash for Clunkers has turned out to be one big flunker. As The Wall Street Journal reports, not only did this bureaucratic brainchild drive a 25 percent drop in new car sales for U.S. automakers in September as compared with last year, but the program's grand vision of advancing environmental salvation translated into a mere 0.2 percent reduction in annual oil consumption (less than one day's worth), and that's a best-case scenario.

To top it off, according to the University of Delaware's Burton Abrams and George Parson, all factors considered, the program imposed a net cost of about $2,000 per vehicle. In short, government made the country $1.4 billion poorer and spent nearly $3 billion to do so. And that's Washington's definition of a "working" program.

A friend of mine - one of the true "Obama Faithful" - writes me, nay screams at me, taunts me, that home sales are UP almost 10%...durable goods UP almost 5%. Both absolutely true. But wait. Let's look a little closer: home sales are up almost 10% from last month BUT they are still DOWN almost 30% from just last year! D'ja get that? Since last year & let us not forget how dismal last year was! OMG!!! ...& durable goods are up almost 5% but remove automobiles - & all the "free money" through the gov't largess (out of YOUR pocket, mind you, chump) from the equation & it falls to less than 0.8%! OMG!!!

All you O'bama supporters are fucking gullible fools! You're in denial. You hear what you want to hear, believe what you want to believe - never mind the simple facts! ...never mind the truth. "Oh, no, denial 'feels' so much better."
